Thank you to everyone who submitted audition videos and recordings last week! They were fantastic! I know that many people who expressed an interest in saying a line in the show did not submit an audition, so I am going to extend the deadline to the end of this week to give you a little more time. There are plenty of lines in the show for everyone! Singing auditions are due this week for Under the Stars if you are interested in having a singing solo in the show. Scroll down to last week's post for the practice video and recording. Make sure that for the audition, you record yourself singing with the track only! There should not be any vocals on the track - just your voice! Keep up the great work!!! #1 Yee-Haw! - This week, we are going to learn the ending of the dance! Now let's try it with music! Now let's put it all together. All of Yee-Haw from the beginning!! #2 Home on the Range in Montana - Practice your group's dance with the track; if you want more review, scroll down and watch the video in last week's post where I break down the dance and teach it. Group A - Bolembach, Burke, Sager, Verbeck Group B - Gilmore, Korchma, Steinbrecher #5 Billy the Bad - Review the dance that we learned last week! It's also less than a minute - do it twice! #6 Under the Stars - Use the next video to learn the vocals for the first verse. Most of this song is going to be solos. If you are interested in singing a solo or duet (2 people together), learn the first verse as well as you can. You can audition for a singing solo if you would like. After you learn the verse, there are additional tracks below to help you practice for the audition. Now that you've learned the song, here is an audio recording of just the first verse so that you can easily practice as many times in a row as you want. (It's the whole song, but right now you only need to go up to about 48 seconds.) This next recording is the same track, but without the person singing. When you are comfortable with the first verse and are ready to tape your audition, you will play this music in the background and sing along. The singing begins about 14 seconds into the track. Make sure you practice singing alone with the track several times before recording! You can use the words! It does not need to be memorized and I do not expect it to be perfect! Follow the directions below with the speaking audition instructions to make your submissions. AUDITION WEEK!! Auditions for speaking lines are due by the end of this week. Auditions for sung lines are due next week. You can audition for both! Everyone who wants to do something by themself in the show, will get something! You can submit either a video or audio recording - whatever is most convenient. Have your parents use their phone to take a video recording using the camera app or an audio recording using the voice memo app (or something similar) and then they can e-mail it directly to me from their phone at cbrown@swr.k12.ny.us. I will reply to confirm that I have received all submissions. Please make sure that you get a reply from me, or I may not have received your audition! If you want to audition, but are unable to submit a recording, please e-mail me to discuss. For spoken lines, simply record yourself saying your chosen line. If you are auditioning for a Billy the Bad narrator, you must play the below audio track and speak the lines along with the track. Everyone who wants a speaking line in the show will get one. I just have to decide who will say what! Your first option is to audition to be a narrator for Billy the Bad. Remember - it is important that these speakers have energy and enthusiasm! We want to draw the audience in to our story! The lines also need to be spoken in time with the music! If you want to be considered to be a Billy the Bad narrator, practice the first verse! If you do not want to be considered for a narrator in Billy the Bad, but do want a speaking line, your other option for auditions is to read any of the lines that happen in the Cowboy Code. These lines also need to be spoken with energy and enthusiasm! Choose any of the lines below. You can hear examples of these lines being said with a western accent in the recording. IMPORTANT AUDITION INFORMATION FOR EVERYONE!
That's all for now. See you next week!
